Chapter 7
Three weeks later
JORDAN WOKE up, each muscle screaming in agony. Rhys had taken him on a long walk the previous day and it had probably been too much for him. He groaned as he tried to stretch out.
“In pain?” Rhys appeared beside him, tablets and a glass of water in his hands. He wore an old T-shirt and shorts that Jordan recognized as his usual sleepwear.
“Are you some freaky ninja pain detector?” Jordan asked.
“You’re moaning,” Rhys pointed out. “It kind of gave it away.”
Jordan rubbed his eyes. “Sorry if I woke you up.”
“I was already up.” Rhys dismissed his concern. “Now where does it hurt?”
“Everywhere,” Jordan admitted as he sat up.
Rhys plumped the pillows and settled Jordan against them. “Take the pills and I’ll give you a massage.”
Jordan squinted at him. “You want to massage me?”
“It might help,” Rhys said. “I’ve got some massage oil in my bag.”
“You carry it around with you?”
“Yeah.”
“Do I get coffee first?” Jordan asked hopefully.
Rhys shook his head. “Later. Massage, shower, then breakfast, and you’ve got the MRI later.”
Jordan had a feeling he’d be shattered before the day ended. “You really don’t have to do this.”
“It’s no problem. You’ll feel much better.”
Jordan made a noncommittal noise, but when Rhys returned with a bottle of massage oil, he realized he wasn’t going to get out of it. It wasn’t that he disliked massages, but they tended to have one effect on him and he really didn’t need Rhys knowing he got horny from having his muscles pummeled.
Rhys pulled back the duvet and laid a soft towel over the sheets. Jordan resisted the urge to cover his junk, because after the last few weeks, what was the point of being coy?
“Roll over onto your front and lie here in the center. I’m going to straddle your waist while I do your shoulders, okay?”
“You’re going to do what?” Jordan’s voice cracked embarrassingly.
“If this was on a massage table, it would be easier to reach you, but on your bed, this is easier for me and my back.”
Jordan rolled over immediately, not wanting to hurt Rhys. He heard a snick, and then a few seconds later Rhys straddled him and ran his cool, slicked hands over Jordan’s back. Jordan instinctively tensed, but as Rhys murmured, “Relax,” to him, he made an effort to breathe out and let each limb go limp. He had been massaged before, by subs and lovers, but rarely had he been so acutely aware of the man doing the massaging.
“Ow fuck!” Jordan yelped as Rhys dug his thumbs into a knot of muscle.
“Sorry, does that hurt?” Rhys inquired, and Jordan gritted his teeth at Rhys’s fake solicitous tone.
Jordan growled into the pillow. “Course it fucking hurts.”
“Do you want me to stop?” Rhys ceased the torture for a moment.
“Not if you value your life.” Jordan took a deep breath and waited for Rhys to continue.
Rhys started working over his muscles again. “You’re tied up in knots.”
“Um.” Jordan closed his eyes and let Rhys seek out each painful knotted muscle.
